Our Foundation
CORE is born from a painful truth we cannot ignore: the safety nets in Western Massachusetts, especially in Holyoke, are not holding. Too often, a single crisis, a job loss, a medical emergency, or a house fire can turn into chronic homelessness.
The problem is not a lack of caring people, but a lack of a coordinated system that can respond rapidly and before it is too late. That is our purpose: we intervene at the critical moment of instability with a commitment to Prevention First. Our approach is to provide immediate, hands-on, and dignity-centered stabilization, not as a long-term housing provider, but as a bridge. We connect people to the resources they need for sustained well-being, ensuring that a crisis becomes a turning point, not a permanent status.
Our Vision
A community where crises do not lead to homelessness, where every person, especially minorities, has access to safety, stability, and opportunity, and where coordinated community systems work together to restore well-being, strengthen economic, and build healthier & resilient neighborhoods.
Our work is also guided by core values including Prevention First, focusing on early intervention to stop crises from becoming chronic; Dignity & Safety, ensuring everyone has respect and protection; Collaboration Over Competition, strengthening community response through partnership; Community Restoration, aiming for safer, informed, and healthier neighborhoods; Stability & Well-Being, connecting individuals to long-term resources; and Accountability & Impact, using data to guide our work and measure outcomes.
Our Mission
Prevent homelessness and protect vulnerable individuals through rapid diversion, coordinated stabilization, and structured crisis response. Through collaboration with local partners, CORE bridges gaps between healthcare, housing insecurity, public safety, and community systems to reduce chronic homelessness and strengthen communities.
